I am originally from an extremely small town in Michigan's Northern Lower Peninsula (with a graduating high school class of roughly 40 students). Although I am a city-girl at heart, I thoroughly enjoy life in the Upper Peninsula and all of the outdoor activities it provides. When I'm not studying or teaching, I am an avid kayaker, golfer, archer, enjoy fishing, and am a Tigers' baseball fan.
I received an Associate of Arts Degree in Social Science from Kirtland Community College in 2003. In 2006, I graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. of Political Science, and again in 2008 with a Secondary Education Certification in the area of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Political Science. I was hired shortly after as a high school social studies teacher at LaSalle in Saint Ignace, Michigan. My job is even more rewarding than I ever imagined and cannot fathom myself in another career path! Currently, I am teaching full-time as well as pursuing my Master's in Education, which will be completed this May.
